Biography:
Lara Nguyen is an artist who currently teaches
at the Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts at Indiana University,
Bloomington. She
was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is the eldest of five
children. Nguyen holds a BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design
where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named the 1998 Outstanding
Senior in Fine Arts. She received her MFA from Southern Illinois
University at Carbondale in 2002. While attending SIUC on a full
tuition scholarship she was awarded the SIUC’s Joint Women’s
Studies and Women’s Professional Advancement Grant. Upon graduation
she was hired as an Assistant Professor and Foundation Coordinator
at California State University, Long Beach. Nguyen has exhibited
nationally in California, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York,
Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee and internationally in Canada, Japan,
Korea, Paraguay and Scotland.
